unbound. Engraving in two parts. Joined sheet measures 54" x 20". This circa 1770 perspective view by Thomas Lawranson shows the Royal Hospital of Greenwich in London. The view, in two sheets, shows the elegant building of the Royal Hospital (now the Old Royal Naval College) in Palladian style architecture. Several figures are seen within the large central court and the grounds, including men, women, and wounded men on crutches. In the foreground a boat is pulling up to the steps, while the Queen's house and the observatory on the hill is seen in the background. The Royal Coat of Arms is included in the bottom center margin with the title. This print, reissued from the 1730s original by John Boydell, is engraved by William Henry Toms. In good condition in original two sheet format with foxing throughout and wear along original folds. Some edge wear.
