Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the complex historical development of the Austro-Hungarian Ausgleich, a compromise that defined the dual monarchy of Austria and Hungary from 1867 to 1918. The author analyzes the economic, political, and social factors that shaped the Ausgleich, tracing its origins, successes, and ultimate failure. Through a detailed examination of primary sources and archival research, the book sheds light on the intricate relationship between the two halves of the empire, highlighting the challenges they faced in balancing their distinct interests and identities. The author unpacks the Ausgleich's impact on various aspects of society, including industry, trade, transportation, and finance, arguing that it both fostered economic growth and sowed the seeds of future conflict. This insightful study offers a fresh perspective on a pivotal period in European history, providing valuable insights into the complexities of multinational empires and the challenges of reconciling diverse interests within a single political framework.
