Good copy, preserved entirely in the original state, retaining the original full size of 24.5x16 cm. ~ First Dutch edition thus, reprinted from the "Militairen Spectator". Freely translated from "Der Straßenkampf mit Barrikaden (.)", attributed to G. F. L. Leithold, which was published in 1849 (Berlin, Mittler). That the barricades will play the lead role in the defense against external enemies is the assumption on which the book elaborates. In doing so it chronicles numerous street battles and barricade wars throughout history, crowning Paris as "The Mother of Barricades War". The book analyses the campaigns in much detail, adds footnotes and completes with a bibliography. Five finely engraved street maps help to understand some specific battles. Einband mit Klebebandresten einer entfernten Bibliothekssignatur. Titelblatt privat stark beschnitten (Fußsteg um 2 cm beschnitten, Kopf- und Außensteg um 4 cm, leichter Textverlust). Seiten gebräunt, mit blassem Wasserrand (etwas über ein Drittel der Seite reichend) und leicht stockfleckig. Gutes Exemplar. Modern library binding in half cloth with the original wrappers mounted onto both covers. First edition. With 2 folding plates containing sketches and graphic diagrams. Copy from the private library of Udo Achten, with his ownership stamp on a flyleaf. Untrimmed copy. Binding with adhesive residue from a removed library shelfmark. Title page privately trimmed quite heavily (lower margin cut by approx. 2 cm, upper and outer margins by approx. 4 cm, with slight loss of text). Pages darkened, with a faint water stain (extending slightly over one third of the page) and light foxing. Good copy.
