Subtitle: A selection of traditional African poems. 127 p., with extensive bibliography. Doob, Professor at Yale Univ., was known for his research in social psychology, especially in the domain of communication and conflict resolution. Much of his research was conducted in Africa. The choice of poems in this anthology, as the author acknowledges in his preface, is guided by a single criterion: " I like them." and he has felt free to edit them, taking full responsibility for any errors or distortions. "The order of presentation is alphabetical by society or tribe." Translators' names are given at the bottom of each poem. Several are translations by Blaise Cendrars. Interior pages clean and unmarked. Binding tight. Yellow endpapers without markings. Black cloth cover with gold lettering on spine in excellent condition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
