Signed and inscribed by the author/poet on the half-title page. Illustrated by Leonardas Andriekus. The covers of the book are very clean and have very little wear, just a bit of rubbing off the top edge of the front, and a few thin creases on the spine. The book has a plastic jacket (see 5th photo). It was present when I purchased the book some years ago. I don't know whether it was original to the book or was placed on by the previous owner. It does fit very well. The jacket is in pretty decent shape. It has one thin tear just off the top edge of the spine. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. The covers are also well bound. The pages are nicely bright. I didn't see any soiling all the way through to page 191. Then on the last 15 or so pages there are a few small amber dust stains off the edges away from the print. I didn't see any creasing in the book. There are no markings. No attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Inscribed by Author(s).

A beautiful copy of this study, which, as the author states in the Preface, is not a comprehensive history of printing in Venice but "an attempt to evaluate humanism's penetration into social levels below the aristocratic and patrician elite and to ascertain the cultural atmosphere among the bourgeoisie and its guiding lights" (p. xi). The "study has two major parts: three chapters on the social context of the early Venetian printing industry and two chapters on the books that were selected for printing" (p. xii). Size: Small Quarto (9-11"). 190 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked. Fine hardcover bound in reddish-brown cloth over boards. Corners are sharp; little to no shelf wear. Title stamped in gilt on the spine. The gilt stamped decoration on the front cover is based on an orament printed in Venice in 1477.
