Softcover. Zustand: Fine. "This exhibition represents one possible approach to the Estonian art of the second half of the 20th century, when it was characterised mainly by conflicts with and adaptations to the new political order established after World War II. The way Soviet authorities understood the role of art and artists in society was radically different from the attitudes which shaped art in the pre-war Estonian Republic. At the end of the 1940s and at the beginning of the 1950s, the strict canon of Stalinist socialist realism prevailed in the Soviet Union, according to which artists had to mediate ideological messages from the Communist Party in a realist manner. In the second half of the 1950s, Soviet society gradually became more liberal, and the Party's demands on art became less stringent, but official prescripts to Soviet culture persisted until the 1980s." English language edition. 12mo (8 1/4" tall). 111 pp. Illus. in black & white and color. In wraps. Clean, unmarked copy. Scarce.

Want a smoke?" - but for me it is the place where my school is located, my best friends lived, I experienced my first love and my grandparents still live today. But the notoriety of Lasnamäe is partly true, so the exhibition was born from the idea of juxtaposing colorful childhood memories with surrounding reality." Marita Liivak is a contemporary painter who lives and works in Tallinn, Estonia. She's an established advocate for women's well being and mental health awareness. Her brave approach in telling her personal journey and candid vulnerable presence is what sets her apart from other artists. 9789916421819.

Wrappers, [48] pp. The book is in Near Fine condition, without any visible defects, losses, remarks and stains. Creases across right corners of front cover, slightly frayed vertical left edge of back cover, two small spots on the fore-edge. Present album edited by Estonian Society of Independent Artists reviews artistic happenings of previous cultural season, giving an overview of events, which had kept Estonian art life pulsating, and introduces popular Estonian artists creation. During the winter in Tallinn alone were organized more than ten art exhibitions, which is a quite large number. From this it can be concluded that Estonian artists are very prolific, but for their creations presentation to the public hasn't been done enough. So, the album should assume the role of popularization. Originally designed in green colors edition is illustrated by great paintings, graphics, drawings of famous masters - Ants Laipman, Anatol Sivard (Ardo Sivadi), Hugo Lepik, Paul Liivak, Arnold Peeter Vihvelin, Gustav Reindorff, Konstantin Scherbakoff (Süvalo) etc.
