Winston Co. in the early-mid-20th century, each illustrated by a famous artist of the day. Each hardcover book is cloth-bound (here in deep burgundy), with a colored paper pastedown to the front board. Condition is VG: very clean, with the occasional touch of soil, smudge, or foxed spot. Pages well-tanned, heaviest around edges, commensurate with age, completely unmarked save for old gift inscription in pen dated 1940 to verso of frontispiece. Light rubbing to extremities, heavy at both ends of spine & all corners, with slight loss here.
