Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Poor. First Thus. One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, each with a colorful paper pastedown to the front board. This one, with an Introduction by Orton Lowe, contains 60 illustrations throughout the 256 pages of text, including a Frontispiece & 3 internal plates by Adeline H. Bolton that are in full color, full page! Originally written centuries ago, this is the FIRST EDITION in this format by John. C. Winston Co. from 1924 (First, Thus). The hardcover book has deep red cloth-covered boards with a brilliantly colored front paper pastedown (duplicated on the front DJ). Condition is VG: very clean, pages modestly but evenly tanned, commensurate with age. Binding is tight & square. Flaws: musty old book smell, light soil/darkening to external page edges, bumped corners. The unclipped DJ is downgraded to Poor since it is missing a large chunk of the front illustration, with many creases & edgewear all around. Nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
