Literature Magazine, was published in the city of Buenos Aires in December 1988, a year of presidential campaigns in Argentina. It was directed by Luis Thonis, whose passage through literary magazines su…ch as Literal, Sitio, Xul and Innamable, would mark the course of new perplexities. Thonis's essay that opens the issue and gives the magazine its name is entitled Expurgation, Purgation, Annunciation ; condenses the themes that cross the summary (analysis of the new fascisms and revolutionary theories in culture) and interposes some names that reappear on the specular background of a muzzled republic: Héctor Murena through the memories of Raimundo Lida, Néstor Sánchez and Osvaldo Lamborghini tracing the limit of the avant-garde, and certain Catholic issues that connect Guy Scarpetta (translated into Spanish) with Lezama Lima, Dante, Joyce, Nicolás Rosa and Pasolini.
