Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book narrates Marie Antoinette's story, from her arrival in France and her subsequent coronation as queen, to the dramatic events of the revolution, her imprisonment, trial, and execution. The author chronicles the monarch's life against a backdrop of political turmoil and social unrest, highlighting the challenges she faced as a young foreign queen amidst a lavish and often hostile court, and as a mother and wife whose personal and private life became entangled with the political realities of her time. The book explores the complex relationship between Marie Antoinette and the French people, a relationship initially marked by adoration and enthusiasm that gradually soured and led to her tragic downfall. The author also delves into the queen's personal interests, examining her love of fashion, gambling, and the arts, as well as her private life, her relationship with her husband King Louis XVI, and her struggles as both a sovereign and a human being.
