Weitere Reiseziele waren Okinawa, Manila und Sumatra, vor dessen Küste die Alceste Schiffbruch erlitt. Le voyage de retour passe par Sainte-Hélène et contient également le récit d'une rencontre avec Napoléon.

Les planches sont parfois coloriées. Étape brésilienne, "esclaves nègres", Bonne-Espérance, Batavia, Tartarie chinoise, Liou-tchiou (description, costumes, insulaires, danses, fête, etc?), Canton, notions générales sur les Chinois, Manille, remarques sur les îles Philippines, pirates malais, Java, etc? Officier de la Royal Navy britannique, Maxwell prit une part importante dans le succès de son pays lors de la campagne de l'Adriatique.
