Gilt titles to spine. xi, 97 pages, 40 pages of publisher's backlist catalogue. Condition: Good. Front hinge weakened a bit between front blank leaves. Spine slightly sunned. Previous owner's elaborate, engraved bookplate depicts him (noted sportsman Thomas Holden White) astride his mount, Stealaway, with polo mallet in hand. Bookplate designed by Cleveland artist Cora Holden, and signed in the plate. No marks or writing to the book. Some pages have small smudges; a few upper page corners were turned (now flattened.) Binding is square; points lightly rubbed; the spine is slightly sunned (gilt is still bright.).

Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Tatty but still readable copy of 'The Sixth Gordons in France and Flanders (With the 7th and 51st Divisions)', by Captain D. Mackenzie, with a Foreword by Lieutenant-General Sir G. M. Harper. It was published for the War Memorial Committee by the Rosemount Press in 1921 and is presumed first. It has a number of black and white plates. Buff cloth-covered boards with bevelled edges, no jacket. The head and tail of the spine and the corners and edges of the covers are rubbed and worn. The boards are very soiled and worn - they have red splodges and what looks like a damp-affected area where the cloth has lifted. The front endpapers have been cut out. The pages are browned, with fingermarks and reading-related creases scattered throughout. The page edges are dustmarked and browned. The front inner hinge has cracked, and the spine is shaken, so the binding is slack, but still holding by the linen and rear eps. Those defects aside, this is a very scarce title, the textblock is intact and the text and plates still clear and legible, so Fair overall. Approx. 8 x 10 inches. This is a heavy book and will require additional P&P. Additional images available on request.

All edges gilt. The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders or 79th (The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders) Regiment of Foot was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1793. It amalgamated with the Seaforth Highlanders (the Duke of Albany's) to form the Queen's Own Highlanders in 1961. This is a history of the Regiment from its formation up to 1887, taken from the Orderly Room Records. It includes accounts of the Raising of the Regiment, Egyptian Campaign, Waterloo, Crimea, the Indian Mutiny, Nile Expedition, and the Soudan Campaign. There are also alphabetical lists of Services of the Officers, Services of the Warrant Officers, and an appendix containing a Roll of officers, non-commissioned officers, and men who were killed in action or died of wounds or disease in Egypt and the Soudan, 1882-87. The book is bound in the original green padded leather boards with gold titling and emblems on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some wear to the titling and emblems on the spine and front board and rubbing to the leather at the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with traces of a removed diamond-shaped label on the front fixed endpaper.

The final page carries a list of 'Errata'. Drop-head title, p.3: 'To The Auditory who heard the Speech of Captain Gordon, delivered in Brunswick Place Chapel, on Wednesday evening, March 2, 1831, This Letter is respectfully inscribed.' The Reformation Society, 'of which Captain Gordon styles himself the honorary secretary', is attacked as a 'society for the support of a tottering system of fraud, falsehood, fanaticism, hypocrisy, intolerance, and oppression'.
