Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed and thorough work that provides extensive insights into the southern stars and constellations as observed from the Cape of Good Hope. It is a significant contribution to celestial literature, as it presents the author's record of observations made with the Dollond and Cape Transit instruments, as well as the Cape Mural Circle. The book gives positions of over 4,000 fixed stars in the celestial sphere, observed over nearly a quarter of a century. In this, it extends and improves upon the work of the French astronomer Lacaille, who had cataloged and recorded the positions of nearly 10,000 stars in the southern hemisphere. This book thus stands as a vital reference work for scholars and astronomers engaged in the study of stars and constellations.
