In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Good. Published by Knullar (1969 copyright) with no edition/printing stated. A G+ 4to soft cover. The red card covers with red tape binding are missing the silver foil wrapper purportedly present as issued. Still, the 178 interior pages (including blank end papers) of this 'anthology of revolutionary effects mummified for the coffee table' appear clean, complete and securely bound. Bit of rubbing and thumbingi.e., light soiling from handlingon the pages' fore edge. The front cover has a penned math calculation, a small sticker of a Cardinal bird, and the residue or outline of tape which once secured two decorative illustrations added to the cover by a prior owner. (Those loose illustrations with yellowed tape at their edges are now laid in.) The spine tail has also been lightly bumped causing light creases to the covers and in the binding tape. Finally, there is is a half-inch tear in the binding tape along the rear spine edge and a related flap crease. No ex-library markings. **Extra shipping charges may requested to cover postage costs on an expedited and/or international order because of the size and weight of this rare publication.…

In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. Printed in black and white and multiple colours and illustrated throughout. First Edition. Large 4to. [280 x 220 x 14 mm]. 68, 71-173, [3] pp. Original red card covers with thin silver foil wrappers, with the eye label on the front. (A few oxidization spots). With two copies of the errata slip, "Words, by Malcolm X, has been removed from this book, at the last minute, on the insistence of the author", and pp.69-70 duly excised. A very good copy in the fragile silver foil wrappers. A collection of radical American writings which had previously appeared in IT (International Times). It is described at the beginning as "A looking back word. An anthology of revolutionary effects, mummified for the coffee table". There are five contributions by Burroughs and three by Allen Ginsberg. With the signature of Hannah Steinberg (1926-2019) and recently bought directly from her estate. Steinberg was born in Vienna and was one of the first Jewish children to travel on the Kindertransport to London. After studying for a Certificate in Commerce and then at Secretarial College she changed course and read Psychology at University College London. She continued to work at UCL for the rest of her career, in 1962 becoming one of the first Readers of Psychopharmacology in the world, and in 1970 the first Professor. Her research focused on the effects of drug combinations, and how the drug efficacy could be impacted by the emotional state of the taker. Many of her test subjects were students and staff, but she never tested drugs on humans that she had not tested herself (and drew the line at LSD). She also worked closely with Elizabeth Sykes, her long-term colleague and partner, to investigate benefits of exercise for wellbeing and creativity. She was the founder of various organisations, including the Academic Women's Achievement Group at UCL, and her campaigning efforts brought about the "Steinberg Principle" which states that planned developments should not only do no harm to the character of a conservation area but should "pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing it".…

In den Warenkorbprinted in various colours, illustrations throughout in various media, pp. 176, 4to, original pink card wrappers, contemporary ownership inscription to verso of flyleaf, a few tiny spots to free endpapers, integral (very thin) foil dustjacket, with the laid down oval label of a pair of eyes (as issued, but often lacking), very good. Scarce with the dustjacket, particularly retaining the pair of eyes - this copy, like most, lacks the contribution of 'Michael X' (a.k.a. Michael de Freitas, Michael Abdul Malik), removed at the insistence of the author. An erratum slip sometimes accompanies that omission, but is not present here - and whilst his 'Words' is listed on the Contents page, the pagination leaps from p. 67 to 70, with no excision, suggesting this may be a distinct printing. Contributions, in this selection of articles from the first three years of the underground newspaper, come from Trocchi, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, John Peel, Pete Townshend, Kevin Ayers, Philip Lamantia, Buckminster Fuller, Michael McClure, et al.…
