Text is legible throughout. Some issues present such as cracking, inscriptions, inserts, moderate foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Binding remains firm. Boards have noticeable shelf wear with rubbing and corner bumping. Moderate tanning and marking. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Lettering is darkened.

Boards have a ring stain to the front panel which also has a few small surface marks. There is some rubbing and fraying to the corners of the boards and at the top and bottom of the spine. Browning to the page edges. There is a four inch closed tear running up from the bottom edge of page 223 and half-inch closed tears at the top edge of pages 135 and 137. There is a slight trace of a price in pencil to the front free endpaper and the pages are browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. No jacket . Illustrated by Bartram Prance.

Browning to the pages with a slight trace of a price in pencil to the title page but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket has rubbing and chipping to the edges and corners. There is a half inch closed tear at bottom of front panel with some associated creasing and two small closed tears to the top of the spine. There is a one inch closed tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel and a tiny nick to the top edge. The rear panel is a little discoloured. Illustrated by Bartram Prance.

There are further losses to the spine bottom and rear bottom edge.

This is a reprint by the CBC in fine condition, possibly 1955, with no marks or inscriptions, with only some dustiness to the text block edges. The book is very clean and tidy inside and opens tightly. The unclipped & unpriced jacket is good, with some loss to the front cover and spine bottom and a little wear to the spine top.
