Dies belegen interessante architektonische Zeugnisse und zahlreiche Fundstuecke dieser Epoche, die bisher vergleichsweise wenig Beachtung fanden und daher in dieser Publikation im Vordergrund stehen. Gegenstand der Untersuchung sind die Ergebnisse der in den Jahren 1999 bis 2001 in Tiryns Stadt-Nordost durch den griechischen Antikendienst und das Deutsche Archaeologische Institut durchgefuehrten Grabungen. Es handelt sich um zwei sehr nah beieinanderliegende Grabungsareale, die zunaechst unabhaengig voneinander und anschliessend vergleichend untersucht werden. Dies beinhaltet auch die Besprechung bisher unpublizierter Befunde und Funde. Die sehr sorgfaeltige und insbesondere kontextbezogene Analyse dieser Befunde und Funde hebt diese Publikation von einer reinen Auflistung der einzelnen Fundstuecke ab und gibt neue und ueberraschende Einblicke in die Nutzung des Areals und die kultischen Aktivitaeten der Menschen in archaischer Zeit. Durch Einbeziehung und Diskussion aller archaeologischen, epigraphischen und literarischen Quellen sowie der bisher erschienenen Beitraege in der Sekundaerliteratur zum archaischen Tiryns kann ein umfassendes Bild des Ortes und seiner Kulte fuer diese Epoche skizziert werden. Zudem widmen sich ausfuehrliche und uebergreifende Kapitel erstmals dem Phaenomen des "Bothros" sowie der Entwicklung der lokalen archaischen Keramik, Miniatur-Keramik und Terrakotten, die als Basis fuer die Einordnung weiterer Grabungsergebnisse und die darauf aufbauenden UEberlegungen sehr hilfreich sein koennen. Ausgehend von den Ergebnissen zur nachmykenischen Nutzung von Tiryns wird in einem naechsten Schritt die zeitgleiche Entwicklung der Nachbarstaedte Argos, Mykene, Asine und Midea sowie des Heraion von Argos in den Blick genommen.
