Paperback. Zustand: New. A new critical assessment of the works of the Austrian-Jewish author, in whom there has been a recent resurgence of interest, from the perspective of world literature. The twenty-first century has seen a renewed surge of cultural and critical interest in the works of the Austrian-Jewish author Stefan Zweig (1881-1942), who was among the most-read and -acclaimed authors worldwide in the 1920s and1930s but after 1945 fell into critical disfavor and relative obscurity. The resurgence in interest in Zweig and his works is attested to by, among other things, new English translations and editions of his works; a Brazilian motion picture and a best-selling French novel about his final days; and a renewed debate surrounding the literary quality of his work in the London Review of Books. This global return to Zweig calls for a critical reassessment of his legacy and works, which the current collection of essays provides by approaching them from a global perspective as opposed to the narrow European focus through which they have been traditionally approached. Together, theintroduction and twelve essays engage the totality of Zweig's published and unpublished works from his drama and his fiction to his letters and his biographies, and from his literary and art criticism to his autobiography.Contributors: Richard V. Hardcover. Zustand: Gut. Gebraucht - Gut - ungelesen, als Mängelexemplar gekennzeichnet, mit leichten Mängeln an Schnitt oder Einband durch Lager- oder Transportschaden -Mark Whalen, also known as Kill Pixie, is a Los Angeles artist with devoted fans all over the world. His followers gravitate toward his unique color palette and surrealgeometric precision, and have succeeded in selling out his gallery exhibitions from London to Australia.Whalen¿s imagery resonates with a strange beauty all its own, with unexpected and often disturbing tableaus floating across gridded fields in the alternate universe he has created. Whalen¿s skill as a painter contributes to the strength of the socially satirical worlds he creates and then upends ¿ worlds composed of strange hooded figures engaged in dubious acts, shimmering trees, and textural beads of color. Whalen uses sly oppositions to reflect life¿s puzzling duality; evoking dark humor through luminous color, chaos through controlled detail, the sublime through the specific. The full range of existence emerges through these controlled spaces; Whalen describes the action in his paintings as ¿sexuality, invention, playing, fighting, experimenting, cultivating, dreaming, destroying, and ideologies confronting each other.¿Gingko Press GmbH, Schulterblatt 58, 20357 Hamburg 120 pp. Englisch. In den WarenkorbCorrespondence Archive. Zustand: Near Fine. 17 items total: 13 TLS, 2 ALS, and 2 APCS. Items listed individually below. This collection documents the administrative and social structure of the Port Townsend, Washington literary scene during its foundational years. The correspondence centers on Cheryl Van Dyke in her role as manager of The Imprint, a bookstore that functioned as a primary hub during Centrum Foundation's annual Writers' Conference at Fort Worden State Park. The letters are often in response to Van Dyke's inquiries regarding bookshop stock to support conference lectures and workshops; they frequently evolve into warm, personal exchanges that reveal the close-knit nature of this regional symposium. This material originates from the personal papers of Cheryl Van Dyke, a poet and artist whose early collection, Cheat Grass, was a cornerstone of the emerging Copper Canyon Press catalog. As an essential figure in the region's fine press circles, Van Dyke's stewardship of The Imprint made the shop a vital setting where established writers and burgeoning Pacific Northwest voices intersected. Condition is uniformly Very Good to Near Fine, showing only occasional light edgewear or minor corner creasing consistent with professional handling. 17 pieces of correspondence. No envelopes present. Organized here chronologically: 1- Hugo, Richard ("Dick"). APCS to Cheryl Van Dyke. Missoula, MT. Postmarked December 17, 1975. Postcard [3.25" x 5.5"].
