Asquith's government), Isaacs was the first Jew to be Lord Chief Justice, and the first, and as yet only, British Jew to be raised to a marquessate. Size 90x60mm Condition is very good. As Attorney General, he led several high-profile prosecutions, including Edward Mylius (for criminal libel against King George V); poisoner Frederick Seddon (for murder); and suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst (for damage to property). He also represented the Board of Trade at the inquiry into the sinking of the Titanic. As Lord Chief Justice, he presided over the trial of Roger Casement for high treason.
