Publisher's uniform brown cloth bindings. Gilt titles to spines and gilt crest (crown and shield) to upper boards. The bindings are generally in very good condition with some wear. The rear outer hinge of the second volume and the front outer hinge of the third volume have been repaired. There is occasional pencil marking to volumes 1, 2 and the Index volume and more frequent marking to volumes 3 and 4.
