Highly decorated throughout in light green and gold with illuminated initials, borders and decorations--all done in the Art Nouveau style. Tan wrappers fold in around the stiff covers of the book and the whole is tied with a green silk ribbon. Front wrapper has a lovely vignette of a flower flanked by two stylized flowers which provide a field for the title. The colored flowers appears to be hand colored. Laid in is a book mark touting the quality of Dodge books and imprinted with the Dodge logo, which is a combination of the most ancient trade-marks in the history of printing art, having been adopted by Julian Notary in 1498 and by John Byddell in 1535. The whole is finely printed on heavy paper stock. Wrappers ever so slightly soiled, green ribbon more or less intact, some transfer throughout from rich decorations, else near fine with no internal markings. The booklet consists of sayings from various persons, e.g., Robert Louis Stevenson, Phillips Brooks, Josiah Gilbert Holland, Carlyle, A.B. Hegeman, Charles Kingsley, Bronte, Elizabeth Barret Browning, Henry Van Dyke, George MacDonald, and Longfellow.

Paper covers lightly soiled; pictorial front cover; black binding cloth tape originally affixed at covers' spine-side edges overlapping spine itself but now mostly perished other than at front cover's left side; binding staples remain firm and thus missing spine cloth tape mostly a cosmetic flaw than a structural one. Interior pages are clean. A very good- copy. With b/w photographs throughout but reproduced in varying quality. Uncommon local history for Lumberton, Mississippi near Hattiesburg and published as a successive volume to "Lumberton Heritage" issued in 1963. Foreword indicates that some of the book's text originated from an unfinished 1930s WPA (or, more specifically, probably a Federal Writers' Project) history of Lamar County that never received final funding and was thus was never published. OCLC only cites copies of "Lumberton Heritage II" at four member institutions and with its predecessor located at only three institutions.
