He was an art dealer and amateur painter, who can be counted amongst the most influential and active members in the development of a market for modern painting. He held a place on the edge between dealing and collecting, developing modern art as an area worthy of investment. In the 1920's he held several sales at Drouot, including the sale of his own collection in 1924.…

Al titolo grande impresa tipografica del Rouillio con il serpente e l'aquila entro bordura di putti; varie grandi lettere iniziali istoriate su fondo criblé. Dedica del traduttore "F.M." a Francesco Vissino di Padova. Versione italiana esemplata per Caterina de'Medici di raro libro di feste in onore della suo arrivo in Francia per le nozze con Henri II. I sovrani giunsero da Torino a Lione il 21 settembre. E' illustrato da 15 belle xilografie a piena pagina, attribuite a Bernard Salomon: "a vivid picture of the French entry ceremonies at the height of artistic ingenuity" (Mortimer). Strumento essenziale per il mantenimento dell'ordine monarchico, i festeggiamenti per le visite reali, con le loro fantasiose strutture effimere, costituirono un laboratorio eccezionale per lo studio dell'evoluzione del gusto artistico. La città di Lione si affidò per l'occasione a Maurice Sceve, Claude de Taillemont, G. du Choul e Barthelemy Aneau, che curarono anche il testo di questa relazione.  La versione francese non comprende la "Particolare descritione della Comedia" (pp. 45-58) del Cardinale Bernardo Dovizi da Bibbiena: la "Calandra", una delle commedie più rappresentative del costume comico del secolo. Realizzata a spese "della natione fiorentina" costituì il primo omaggio della Francia alla grande Regina italiana. Bell'esemplare di edizione non comune, con al titolo nota di possesso secentesca di Sigismondo Brandolini (piegatura del bifolio G2-G3 rinforzata in pochi millimetri all'estremo margine interno).
