The book takes as its departure the alleged absence of Surrealism in Modern Hebrew literature, an absence that suggests that Surrealism has made little impact upon Hebrew and Israeli culture. It suggests that the relationship is more complex. In so doing, the book moves beyond the conception of Surrealism as a regimented artistic movement and proposes instead that we broaden our definition to encompass the multifarious guises in which it appears.…
