A study of the relationship between business and the educational system, written by the president of the Shell Oil Company. This copy comes with a typed letter signed by Spaght on his personal stationery to New York Times editor Lawrence Hauck, thanking the latter for his positive review of the book in the Times. Hauck's typewritten reply is stapled to the front of this letter, and a copy of the review is included. Also included is a typed letter of thanks signed by Spaght to Ann Kinney, a Shell employee who married Hauck in 1964. Larry Hauck (1912-2000) started at the Times as a copy editor in 1948. By the 1960s he had worked his way up to assistant news editor, serving mainly as the overnight and weekend editor. He was promoted to full editor in 1976 and retired the following year. Signed.
