Beige Dustwrapper not price-clipped ($10.00) with some perimeter browning (age-toning), minor tears and chips (Now backed with Archival tape); two small blue spots on front cover lower right , which appear to be small, superficial scrapes of surface beige, revealing blue underneath (NOT detected on inside dustwrapper at those locations and NOT the surface of the blue board showing through); 1" x 1/4" superficial liquid stain (blends in with age-toning and cannot be seen on inside dw at that location) on front cover between two blue spots cited. It all describes much worse than it is but there you have it: NOW in Brodart mylar, which forgives transgressions graciously. Medium blue, marbled boards with white spine and gold-stamped lettering; top edge stained yellow; some small speckles of foxing on top edge, partially hidden by yellow stain; modicum of foxing speckles on fore-edge, primarily near top edge, with a scant few bleeding onto pages (NO encroachment upon text); hint of shelf rubbing on lower edges: describes worse than it is, but there you have it. Book essentially Fine, looking UNREAD. Tight binding (NO cracks); square corners (hint of curls on lower cover corners); essentially NO rubbing wear; NO remainder marks; NO previous owner names. Clean text. Classic Festschrift with list of distinguished Contributors: Arguably, Gift-Giving Condition for a scarce resource. …

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This thesis demonstrates a previously untested capability of the Rotating Modulation Collimator (RMC) to image a point-like neutron source. The encouraging results, achieved using low-energy neutrons, provide motivation for further refinement and continued research with higher-energy neutrons. The detector and the masks on an existing RMC imaging system were exchanged to function with neutrons. The source in this research produced a poly-energetic spectrum of neutrons through the reaction. The source of alpha particles was a 72.7 mCi 239Pu source. The RMC detector was located 250 cm from the bare source and operated for three hours to generate a modulation profile: The number of particles detected at each rotation angle of the masks -- it is unique for each source location. The measured modulation profiles were used in a Maximum-Likelihood-Expectation-Maximization algorithm to reconstruct the images, and a Bootstrap resampling technique was used to determine uncertainty. The reconstructed images exhibited high contrast but low precision. The resampled image locations were widely distributed, but the most frequent value was very accurate. The uncertainty originated from an expectation model that did not account for fast neutron downscatter into the thermal neutron region as well as the fast neutrons streaming through the masks and being detected.…
