Inside the pages are clean but the lower page edges were rough cut by the printer. No visible inscription or ownership markings but the front free endpaper has a piece cut away from the top edge. The original unclipped jacket is spotted to the rear section & on the reverse and there are some smallish tears & some loss.Illustrated in b/w. A perfectly good reading copy.

The boards are grubby, slack and with to diagonal creases to front and very sunned spine with bumped ends. The end papers are lightly tanned. The text block is illustrated with black and white drawings by Joyce Bruce. The pages are quite securely attached, with pages from 177 a little loose. The tail edges are worn and the book has been well used. No dedications etc. Fair plus condition. A sound reading copy. Without jacket.

The binding is a little slack with gaps showing at the half-title page and at the back of the book but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. No jacket. Illustrated by Joyce Bruce.
