La creación, como acompañante más allá del lenguaje discursivo, pone imágenes, metáfora, sonido a una herida impronunciable. Desde hace más de sesenta años, los procesos creadores aplicados en terapia (a través de las artes visuales, la danza, el teatro y la música), al trabajar alternativamente con los dos hemisferios cerebrales ?al fluctuar entre la expresión simbólica y la interiorización de los resultados a través del lenguaje y la escritura?, permiten el trabajo de la reconstrucción narrativa, corporal y emocional del trauma y ofrecen la capacidad de dar sentido al dolor. Por ello se han revelado como instrumentos eficaces para la mejora de personas y colectivos que necesitan de vías más allá del discurso analítico, para expresar, por decirlo de algún modo, lo inexpresable. En las últimas décadas, la neurociencia ha confirmado lo que los artistas venían mostrando desde hace siglos: que no todo discurso es analítico y ordenado; que la memoria no es siempre organizada, ni el tiempo lineal y medible; que no todo el espacio puede ser mesurable, ni nuestras acciones coherentes.
