Purdue Frederick Co. still operates today as Stamford, Connecticut-based Purdue Pharma L.P. Card's text implies the product has been on the market for some time so perhaps it is circa 1900 to 1910 and the card was found (i.e. its provenance) inserted within a medical text book published in 1908.

Yehuda Leib Katznelson, (29 November 1846, Chernigov, south west Russian Empire, now Ukraine - 1917, Petrograd), also known by his pen name Buki…Ben Yogli, was a military doctor, writer and publicist of Hebrew Literature. He studied yeshiva in Zhytomyr, and began his medical study at the University of Saint Petersburg. During his studies he worked as a teacher of Hebrew for beginners at the Jewish school run by Eliezer Berman. In 1865, Katzenelson attended the government-sponsored rabbinical seminary in Zhitomir. After graduating, he served as a military physician in the Ottoman - Russian War (1877-78). At the end of the war, Katznelson settled in Saint Petersburg. As a young man, he worked for Hebrew-language newspapers, including Today, a Russian newspaper, as an editor and contributed to articles on scientific matters. He began to write about medical science, drawing on the Talmud as relevant to modern medicine. These articles were assembled later in his book The Wisdom of the Talmud and Medicine. Katznelson did not identify as a Zionist at the beginning of his public career, but supported Jewish Territorialists. He was eager to promote Jewish-owned agricultural advances wherever possible, especially in southern Russia and the Jewish colonies in Argentina. In 1909, he visited Eretz Israel and toured Jewish settlements. This visit changed his opinion; he abandoned territorialism and began to support practical Zionism. After the resignation of Simon Dubnov, Katznelson was appointed to the main Iibrskyh encyclopedia. Katznelson taught Russian and lectured in Oriental Studies, focusing on the settlement of the Land of Israel. Many of Katznelson's books were published outside of Russia. He practiced medicine in St. Petersburg until his death in 1917. Katznelson gained fame with the Jewish people and there are monographs on his life and works including by David Frishman, Jacob Fichman, Ben-Zion Katz, Menachem Ribolob and Reuben Brainin, Messed Lachover and Israel Cohen.

STORY: The War in the Air is a military science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, written in four months… in 1907 and serialized and published in 1908 in The Pall Mall Magazine, is like many of Wells's works notable for its prophetic ideas, images, and concepts in this case, the use of the aircraft for the purpose of warfare and the coming of World War I. The novel's hero is Bert Smallways, a "forward-thinking young man" and a "kind of bicycle engineer of the let's-'ave-a-look-at-it and enamel-chipping variety.".

He was basically a serious writer, but is now mainly known for his humorous short stories, originally written under the pen name as in this instance Hugh Foulis. This is a most important new work on Emperor Hirohito by one of Japan's leading historians, Ikuhiko Hata. Following the untimely dea…th of Marius B. Jansen (Emeritus Professor, University of Princeton) in December 2000, who had been actively collaborating with the author and translator of the original Japanese edition ("Hirohito Tenno itsutsu no ketsudan", first published in 1987 and republished in 1994), it was inevitable that there would be a delay in publication of the English edition, which is finally now available. In his extended Foreword as editor, referring to the nature of Hirohito's power, Jansen states: 'We are left with puzzles that will probably never be resolved. Clearly, as Professor Hata and others have shown, the Emperor Hirohito had immense power, but the condition of retaining it was judicious restraint in exercising it'. In offering a view on the merits of Hata's research, Jansen points to the hitherto unknown plots (in parallel but unrelated) by both the Army and Navy to preserve, and if necessary resuscitate, the imperial line in the event the victors decided to depose Hirohito. Jansen also points to the merits of Hata's particular focus on the contribution Hirohito made to Japan in its post-war relations with the United States. Jansen added substantive notes to help place the author's material in historical and historiographical perspective. The book, which is not a biography or a general history of the Showa era, focuses on five decisions taken by Emperor Hirohito, which the author considers the key turning points of his reign: these concern the 26 February 1936 insurrection of young army officers, the termination of the Pacific War, the post-war constitution, the issue of abdication and the San Francisco Peace Treaty.
