Uczyl sie fotografowania w zakladzie fotograficznym swego ojca Eduarda w Görlitz od 1857, wlasny zaklad w Görlitz na Bismarckstr. 9/10 prowadzil od ca 1867 do 1920. Od 1875 otrzymal szereg nagrod na wystawach zagranicznych i krajowych za fotografie krajobrazu. W 1902 otworzyl sklep z aparatami i artykulami fotograficznymi.
