Dabei soll aufgezeigt werden, dass Luthers Kritik am Ablasshandel als Keimzelle der Auseinandersetzung fungierte und bereits einige Jahre wachsen konnte, die eigentliche Kritik am päpstlichen Ablass jedoch im Allgemeinen kein neues Phänomen darstellte. Darüber hinaus soll das ambivalente, teils widersprüchliche Verhältnis Luthers zum Papst anhand von Briefwechseln aufgeführt werden. In einem weiteren Schritt soll dann die Bulle selbst näher betrachtet werden. Zunächst wird diese im historischen Kontext kurz vorgestellt. Danach wird der inhaltliche Aufbau kurz vorgestellt und analysiert werden. Daran anschließend folgt eine Betrachtung der Bulle hinsichtlich sich aus diesen ergebenden Problematiken und Gedankengängen, bevor die Reaktionen Luthers auf das Verhängen der Bulle und die sich daraus ergebenden Konsequenzen beleuchtet werden sollen. In einem letzten Schritt der Ausarbeitung werden dann die Ergebnisse der Betrachtung in einem Fazit kurz zusammengefasst und ausgewertet.
