Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. I couldn't find another copy of this book anywhere on the Internet. The publisher (and probable author) Henry V. Degen appeared to focus on juvenile fiction with religious theme or overtone. This book was copyrighted in 1857. my copy was published in 1861. Again there is no copy, at this writing, from any of these early years for sale on the Internet. This book is 89 pages. It is quite well-bound. As you will be able to see in the photographs, the covers are in very good condition. There is a little rubbing on the blue color but no soiling. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. Remarkably, the edge wear and corner wear is minimal. No tears, no loss. That's pretty much the case inside the book as well. The front free end paper has a small tear, and the last rear end paper has a small loss at the top edge. The actual pages of the book are in very good condition. They are fairly bright, not at all brittle or aged. Rather strong and supple. There is relatively very little soiling, much less than the average book of this age. There is a tiny check mark on the title page (see photo of title page). There is no other writing in the book anywhere. There are no markings. There is a frontispiece full-page illustration and a half-dozen or so smaller ones throughout. So if this is a subject matter or genre that interests you, I think this would be a nice addition.
