From the Preface Induced breeding and polyculture of carps are well known technologies being extensively adopted on a large scale in almost all parts of the country. The thrust in aquaculture has led to more demand for quality stocking material. Ever increasing demand of quality seed cannot be met by collection of seed from natural resources i.e. rivers canals etc. Many aquaculturists and agencies those were earlier dependant on natural fish seed collection have switched over to artificial fish seed production in recent years.
