Minstrelsy began around the time of the Civil War an…d persisted into the 1960's and 1970's. Though racially charged in its conception, minstrel shows were performed by both black and white entertainers and they probably preserved many songs that were African-American in origin. This book is a complete minstrel show with both a script and musical numbers.
