Norfloxacin in-situ gel was prepared using various concentrations of polyme…rs such as Carbopol-940 (0., 0.2, 0.3 0.4and 0.5% w/v), HPMC- E50LV (1.5 % w/v), HPMC E4M (0.6 %w/v) and HPMC K4M (0.5% w/v) by pH triggered gelling system with an objectives of increasing contact time, achieving controlled release, reduction in frequency of administration and greater therapeutic efficacy of drug. The prepared in-situ gels were then evaluated for their visual appearance, clarity, pH, drug content analysis, in-vitro gelation (Gelling capacity), rheological studies, sterility testing, textureanalysis and in-vitro drug release studies. It is evident from these studies that, formed polymeric in-situ gels had transparent, clear possessing satisfactory gelling capacity. The developed formulation was light yellow in colour, therapeutically efficacious, stable, non irritant with sustained release of drug. 100 pp. Englisch.

Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The main focus of this research work was to develop a matrix type transdermal patch containing Propranolol hydrochloride and combination of two hydrophobic Polymers Eudragit L-100 and Eudragit S-100 by Solvent Evaporation technique.Combina…tion of two Plasticizers Glycerine and Dibutyl phthalate were used and their effect on drug release was studied by changing their concentration in each batch.Methanol and Dichloromethane solvent system was used in which methanol acts as a penetration enhancer.Since oral bioavaibility of Propranolol Hydrochloride is poor due to high first pass metabolism transdermal patch is formed with the objective to get sustained release drug action with good bioavaibility. It can be concluded that the attempt of formulation and evaluation of the propranolol hydrochloride patches was found to be successful in the release of drug for an extended period of time. Further detailed investigations and elaborate in-vivo studies need to be carried out and an in-vitro in-vivo correlation need to established to guarantee the efficiency and bioavaibility of the formulation.
