Zustand: Very Good Plus. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: 4-mil clear mylar envelope. First Edition. These are three (3) pages of ORIGINAL teletyped pages by WESTBROOK PEGLER of his King Features Syndicate column of July 12, 1960 concerning a political gathering that night at Chasen's restaurant in Hollywood, California, ostensibly…hosted by singer Phil Regan, honoring David McDonald, the President of the United Steelworkers national union. This party took place during the Democratic National Convention, held in Los Angeles from July 11-16, 1960. Significantly, also present at the gathering was SENATOR JACK F. KENNEDY (JFK), the eventual successful Democratic Presidental Nominee. This original teletyped column was then sent by Westbrook Pegler to Dave Chasen, the owner of Chasen's restaurant with a HANDWRITTEN NOTE, SIGNED by Pegler ("Peg"} to "Dear Dave" which encircles the first page of copy. Present are three pages of the four page teletyped column, sans page three. 8 1/2" x 11". ALSO INCLUDED are photocopies of the relevant pages of The Pampa (Texas) Daily News of July 13, 1960, showing the subject Pegler column starting on the front page and labled, "Special Daily News Convention Reports". The Very Good Plus pages have teletype machine-torn edges as usual and are rubbed from handling, and now in a clear 4mil mylar protective envelope. Signed.

unbound. 4 pages, 10.5 x 7.25 inches, written from Tucson with his New York address crossed out, September 1, 1942, soon after losing a landmark libel lawsuit against Quentin Reynolds, in small part: ".The question was whether he showed a yellow streak. If I had been he, I would have thought such conduct yellow.however, the jury… did not regard this as yellow conduct! Furthermore, however, the judge was a nominee and political henchman of Herbert Lehman, a henchman for Eleanor Roosevelt.Reynolds has been paid large fees.to go up and down the country preaching the great cause of Israel.he lost few opportunities to plead the cause.which I regarded as a crime against law and the Arab States.I did not lose the lawsuit.Hearst lost it and I believe I was the victim of inefficient representation." Pegler then launches into a diatribe attacking his boss William Hearst, actions that would lead to the loss of his column at King Features Syndicate, in part: ".Healy in New Orleans is outwardly cordial but I have an impression that he is almost as superficial as Bill Hearst. It seems to me that my clients would relish two or three stories about my long ordeal of censorship with the Hearst outfit.I believe the Hearst Empire is collapsing and that in a few years it would have no newspapers left.I have an awful lot of original material which has been useless to me because the damned Hearst outfit is a stable of sacred cows." Much more great content showing the bitter side of the "real" Westbrook Pegler. Staple holes in the upper left corner; otherwise very good condition. American journalist and writer best known for his ultra-conservative political views.
