Covers are a little worn and dusty looking. booklet has been folded lengthwise and still has a very light vertical crease. Pages a little yellowed, but clean and tight, no markings. General cooking tips with recipes for 18 kinds of candies: candied fruit, glaceed, jellies, fudge, nougat, brittle, dried fruit, nuts, etc.

The upper part of what was clearly a two-page letter printed on both sides of a single leaf. Now 12.5 x 20 cm. Docketed in top left-hand corner of first page 'LB 11/5/99'. Responding to an offer of plates of some of her works. (According to one source Ward was the author of upwards of a hundred novels and short stories.) She states that 'the copyrights of those books of mine which have been published by Messrs. Ward and Downey [.] are in all cases mine', and out her permission. 'I should not, in any case, buy them myself: but if you like to let me know what plates you have, I will see if anything can be done in the way of selling them to another publisher, for the issue of the now popular cheap editions'.
