Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. This VG- condition Lothrop, Lee & Shepard book was published in August, 1910. It is 8" x 5-3/8" with 368 numbered pages followed by 6 unnumbered pages of ads; if it was issued with a jacket, there is no jacket now. The book is square, clean, and free of overt damage; its flaws are due to use, not abuse. All four corners are lightly bumped, with the bottom two having worn through the binding and showing just a hint of the boards; the spine ends are bumped with very slight fraying at both ends. The spine is lightly soiled but the lettering and decorative lines are very clear; the front panel is in very decent condition but has wear on the applique (see photo). Except for an inked inscription on the FFEP, the interior is very clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage. There is a page listing the frontis + 5, and all are present and firmly attached. The paper is lightly toned and is very flexible and not at all brittle; end pages have some slight toning. The rear hinge is strong and not damaged in any way; the front hinge is weakened but holding. This is a fine story of four highly individualistic boys and several adults on a month in the woods and their variety of adventures: being treed by a bear, fighting a grey wolf, fighting off a wolf pack and trapping badgers are just some of the adventures these boys have. An exciting book to read.

Bruce of LA's quarterly physique digest mostly illustrated with his photos and models but with a few other pros and amateurs as well and order forms included. Early issues were clearly marked with season and year but later issues left off the dates, identified only by volume number (in this case volume actually meant issue).
