The themes of sailing and geese and ducks are linked by the sea; both authors sailed and watched (and shot) wild fowl; photos include trips to Iceland and the Arctic to see geese on their breeding grounds, as well as dingy sailing. He had been a founder of the World Wide Fund for Nature, founded the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (November 1946), and was an influence on international conservation. He received the WWF Gold Medal. and the J. Paul Getty Prize for his work.…

Sir Peter Scott (1909-1989) was fundamental in bringing the Hawaiian Goose back from the brink of extinction through the breeding program at WWT Slimbridge. From there, the Hawaiian Goose was later reintroduced into the wild in Hawaii.…
