Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Signed photograph "Elizabeth R 1955" in the hand of Queen Elizabeth and "Philip" in the hand of Prince Philip. 7.25 x 9.5 inch black and white photograph on the original 8.25 x 11.25 inch photographers mount and affixed on thin cardboard of the same size, n.p. (London), 1955. Excellent signed in dark ink. The photograph by the Baron studios shows the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace, 12th March 1953. The Queen is wearing the Diamond Diadem, the sash, badge and star of the Order of the Garter, and the Greville Chandelier earrings. Slightly discolored and faded, some stains, else good condition. Folded stiff card with gold embossed crown to the front. Facing mounted black and white photographic illustration of the couple with their two children Charles and Anne on the steps of Balmoral. Minor spotting away from signatures inside and out, else good condition. Provenance: By family descent from Kenneth Hall (1892-1976). Hall joined the Royal Navy in 1911, serving in the First Balkan War and then continuing to serve during both World Wars. Commander Hall was wounded when HMS Rodney was bombed off Norway. In 1945 he joined the Royal Household, as Chief Clerk to the Board of the Green Cloth, where he remained for ten years, during which period he was appointed to foreign Orders of France, Denmark, Holland, Sweden and Abyssinia.
