All are bumped at the corners with some fraying as are the tops and bottoms of the spines. Vols 1,2 and 4 are cracked internally at the end papers but no dramatically so. Vol 3 has two small bumps to the fore-edges of the front and rear board. Internally tight and clean, however. The boards have general signs of use. At least a Good+ copy. William Pickford was a notable football administrator who was on the FA Council for 50 years and was President of the Football Association just before he died in 1938.He was also a referee and was known as the "Father of Football in Hampshire". Based on the 1917 novel by Eleanor Hoyt Brainerd, about a young socialite and a millionaire, who meet and fall in love while pretending to be a cook and a hired hand, respectively.
