Illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs, drawings and technical diagrams. Catalogue contains listings for the different types of concrete and concrete pipe that the company makes. Listings contain specifications and physical properties for the given pipe, along with details regarding its construction, manufacture, installation and maintenance. Accompanying tables give physical dimensions, using labeled technical diagrams to give a sense of scale. Edges and corners of covers are worn; covers are a little rubbed. Some writing on front cover, along with stamp from the library of the Public Roads Administration; date on stamp (July 9, 1947) indicates date of receipt by the library. Identical stamp appears on several pages. The Universal Concrete Pipe Co., a manufacturer of concrete and concrete pipes, was based in Columbus, Ohio. $20.

Printed cream color wrapper, in good condition. 109 pages, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches in size. Tables, diagrams and black & white photographs throughout. The wrapper is protected in a thin, plastic sheeting that is starting to peel at the corners. The first and back page of the wrapper are beginning to come apart from the glue at the spine (see pictures). The binding is strong and tight with no loose or missing pages. All pages are bright and unmarked, with clear illustrations. This catalog comes from a collection of several thousand trade manuals.

The 6 by 9 inch staple-bound softcover catalog is 32 pages and in good condition. The catalog is comprised of illustrations of the closed boiler system with descriptions along with a few schematics and specifications. The blue cover has gold decoration but has rubbing, creasing to the spine, folded and bumped corners. The inside pages have light spotting to the first page but the rest are clean and without markings. There is a numbered sticker to the front cover. The catalog includes benefits, capacity, holders, applications, and parts.

Bound with black material over the boards and a white cover design. 248 pages, measures about 6 x 9 inches in size. Black and white illustrations and photographs, including engineering tables, with two color illustrations of maps, on pages 17-19. The catalog covers a large variety of subjects, from acid waters to wyes. There is some shelf wear, seen most in the bent corners of the boards. There are markings on the spine and some of the design on the cover has lifted in small areas. The binding is strong with no loose or missing pages. The end papers, title page and index have many marks from stamps, pen, and pencil. There are no other marks in the volume; the pages are bright with clear illustrations and photographs. The catalog is ex-library: there are multiple stampings, a book label, and catalog numbers written on the title and index pages. This catalog comes from a collection of several thousand trade manuals.

Initially a modest endeavour, it was founded in 1904 by A. G. Rhodes and G. G. Jamieson to handle fuel and building materials. Their fortune would change with the massive rebuilding effort after the San Francisco Earthquake, which would lead to a sizeable expansion and the purchase and absorbtion of various other businesses in the area.
