He managed to reach Cazembe where he died but his journey added greatly to the geographical knowledge of the interior of Africa. In addition to the main journey of Dr. Lacerda, the book includes the journey of the Pomeiros, P.J. Baptista and Amaro Jose, across Africa from Angola to Tette on the Zambeze; and a Resume of the Journey of MM. Monteiro and Gamitto from Angola to the Rios de Senna. ].
