Perche allora pubblicarne un'altra?Per citare Raymond Sosnowski: "I piu famosi testi letterari sono stati scritti in ebraico biblico, latino classico, sanscrito, cinese classico, ecc. Non in inglese. Per questo motivo le opere tradotte sono aperte a molteplici interpretazioni a seconda dell'esperienza". Nel caso del Gorin no Sho, le traduzioni pubblicate fino ad oggi mostrano una decisa "mancanza" di esperienza da parte del traduttore. Il Gorin no Sho e stato scritto durante il Medioevo giapponese, quando l'educazione era ispirata ai principi confuciani e buddisti. Musashi attinge fortemente alle virtu dell'insegnamento buddista, quindi e un prerequisito per chi studia la sua opera approfonditamente studiare anche il buddismo. Nelle traduzioni, la mancanza di accuratezza e sempre il risultato di una conoscenza di base inadeguata dell'argomento trattato. Molti traduttori compensano questa carenza di cultura specifica con l'abbondante utilizzo di "paroloni e retorica". Molti sono senza dubbio ottimi traduttori, ma nessuno di costoro ha mai praticato all'interno della scuola fondata da Musashi. Il Niten Ichi ryu non solo insegna i principi fondamentali della pratica, ma anche la visione filosofica da acquisire, unitamente alle verifiche delle proprie qualita spirituali e mentali. Perche, dunque, prediligere questa traduzione? Perche Kim Taylor aveva gia una conoscenza piu che approfondita della strategia e dei metodi di Musashi prima di decidere di dedicarsi a questo lavoro. Non e necessario leggere tra le righe per interpretare. Basta aggiungere la pratica alla lettura, dedicare una vita allo studio e si ottiene il quadro completo. Questa e la traduzione di cui avrete bisogno per ricomporre il tutto e confrontarvi con la metodologia delle altre scuole. Come disse lo stesso Musashi: "I fiori sono belli ma non producono frutti".
