Soft cover. Zustand: Collectible-Very Good. 31 pages; gray paper wrapper (5 3/8 x 8 1/4 inch) stapled. Some fading around the edges. The pamphlet was published in New Caledonia during World War II (1942) when it began to serve as the center of operations for the American forces in the Pacific 'theatre'. The author gives an account of the French colony's history which began as a convict colony; natural resources, mainly mining and sugarcane; the Japanese question of influence and invasion; and an account of the Revolution. This last section on the overthrow of the Vichy colonial government by 'Free French' forces is of the most important as it is a first hand account by the author of the events and leading characters involved. A very good copy of this interesting pamphlet on the uprising in New Caledonia.
