From the personal notes of not only an experienced general but also a British politician during the events of Napoleon's disastrous retreat from Moscow. Edited by his nephew and son-in-law Reverend Herbert Randolph, a British clergyman. With publisher's catalogue to the rear of volume two. In the original green cloth binding. Externally. smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spines with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Wilson was a British army officer who was seconded to the Imperial Russian Army during the time of the invasion, provided an interesting first hand account of the event. The work was edited by his nephew Herbert Randolph. Bound in half modern crushed morocco with marbled paper to the boards, endpapers renewed, half title retained. Externally lovely. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with the odd 'Malta Garrison Library' stamp to the front, and the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
