A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. Volume III in the Publications of the Hudson's Bay Record Society series. A collection of reprinted records related to the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) from 1821-1831. Contents are listed as follows: "Preface," "Introduction: Part I: Reorganization, 1821-25; Part II: Consolidation, 1826-31; Part III: Conclusion," "Minutes of Council, 1821-1831," "Appendix A: Letters from the Governor and Committee to the Northern Department, 1821-22; Reports of George Simpson to the Governor and Committee,1822; Selection from the Correspondence of the Northern Department, 1821-22," "Appendix B: Biographical," and "Index." The Hudson's Bay Company was founded in 1670 as a fur trading company. HBC once controlled a commercial monopoly throughout the entirety of Rupert's Land, a territory expressly formed for HBC's monopoly. Rupert's Land also comprised the Hudson Bay drainage basin. The Canadian government gained control of Rupert's Land in 1870 following negotiations with HBC. HBC is still in business to this day as Canada's largest and oldest corporation. Today, HBC is commonly referred to as "The Bay" and has many brick-and-mortar retail stores as well as an online store. HBC has since changed its product line to reflect current interests, and as of 2023, no longer sells animal fur products.

All volume uniformly bound in black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. 8vos. Volumes I to IV, VI Part I, VI Part II and VII to Xi are have some occas…ional toning to text block edges and occasional minor signs of handling, with dust wrappers a little bumped on extreme edges and gently rubbed at spine ends and corners. The dust wrapper on volume III is a little faded. Volume V is in as new condition, in a dust wrapper just a little rubbed at spine ends and now protected in a removable clear sleeve. Volume VII, Parts I and II are ex library copies with library stamps and barcode strip on front endpapers, and a stamp on title page, copyright page and upper and lower text block edge. Both also have a bookplate on the front paste down and slightly toned text block edges, else are neat, and clean. Their dust wrappers are a little rubbed at edges and have a call number label taped to the bottom on the backstrip.
