In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a scientific exploration of the decay process of specific plant organs and their effects on the growth of other plants. The author, a botanist, conducted experiments to determine the toxicity of the decay products of the rhizomes of Nymphaea plants, commonly found in the wetlands of Chicago and Seattle. The study revealed that even diluted solutions of these decay products significantly inhibited the growth of other plants, including agricultural crops. The author investigated various potential causes of toxicity, including acidity, ionization, and the presence of toxic molecules, and discussed the implications of their findings for understanding plant ecology and soil fertility. This book contributes to the scientific understanding of the complex interactions between plants and their environment, highlighting the potential role of decay products in shaping plant communities and ecosystems. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
