Robert Kappeli is a Swiss-born artist whose work often captures the distinct scenic landscapes of his birthplace. But here is something a bit different; this book is titled: "From an Indian Diary" by Robert Kappeli. It was published by CIBA Limited, of Basle…, dated 1965, and presumably a First Edition. The book is bound in some unique hand-made paper with a white spine. It was compiled, as I understand it, by the Artist during a period when he visited India on behalf of the CIBA Company with the intention of participating in the company's efforts to establish a first class research center there which would employ Indian scientists. The book includes coupled to some lovely watercolors and pencil/charcoal drawings. The book is apparently quite scarce. I only found one copy online and there were no print-on-demand versions being offered. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The hard covers are clean and bright and very unique as they are bound in a special hand-made paper. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound.
