When 62 of the original 119 women who entered the Academy in 1976 graduated four years later, they did so in triumph. Of the 111 formal interviews Janda (history, Cameron U., Lawton, Oklahoma) conducted with US Military Academy graduates and present or former members of the faculty and staff, 64 involved members of the Class of 1980, the first to be sexually integrated, including 27 women and 39 men.
