Adolphe Roberts under this pseudonym. Sold along with a sixth printing of Robert's other book written as Endicott, Mayor Harding of New York (New York, The Mohawk Press, 1931), a good copy in original cloth, top corner of front board bleached, otherwise clean.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Third printing before publication. Modestly worn good copy lacking the dustwrapper. A novel about political corruption in New York, apparently inspired by true events. Roberts was a prolific black journalist of West Indian origins, who was later known for his travel books of that region. He wrote the first true detective novel by an African-American, as well as volumes of both travel and poetry.
