There is a plastic sleeve/dust jacket of clear soft plastic that appears to be added later, but I'm not sure. I thought about removing it, but it is very tight fitting with the back and front covers sliding into a pocket of the sleeve. Black ink stain on the spine of the plastic jacket. There is also a paper strip glued to the front cover that appears to serve no purpose, perhaps a design element. The cover printing crosses right over the top of it. This is an odd one! World Cat lists editions by another publishers and 2 volumes of this one, with the second published in 1962. It is sort of a community cookbook with contributions from "the Consulates, hosts and hostesses and the restaurants who have Graciously contributed recipes", but names are not included for these contributors. In the foreward by Heb Caen he says "In "Golden Gate Gourmet" , Mrs. Robertson has created a brilliant pots'n'panorama of the good life at the dinner tables of San Francisco. It is a valuable contribution to the never-ending legend of "the cool gray city of love" - and the love of fine food." Profits from the book were donated to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northern California Chapter, and several people donated time and services to the creation of the book, in addition to the donated recipes. pp. A-K and 178.…
